What is your style of filming?
This is one thing that seperates me from a lot of other videographers.

I use photojournalistic unobtrusiveness & realistic cinematography to capture your special day as you see it. Which means that I use proven techniques to record your event while staying out of the way and not interfering.

I make documentary style films/videos, not hollywood movies. My clients choose me because they don't want a glorified or overly dramatic video with staged shots/scenes that didn't actually happen. I record what really happens to the best of my ability, and edit it into something everyone can remember like an actual memory. People also choose me as thier videographer because I have an extensive background (Fashion, Indie Films, Wedding, Corporate) and education (BA from Cal State) in Film & Editing.

Will you bring backup equipment to my event?

Though it is very rare for a piece of equipment to fail me at an event, I always have a backup.

Why does HD cost more than SD?
There are several reasons I charge more for HD. One is the amount of time it takes to edit the footage, which is about twice as long as SD footage. Also, HD footage takes longer to capture (put onto the computer for editing). The equipment is three times as expensive as SD as well. Even at the very end when I burn to BluRay DVD the cost and time it takes is anywhere from 2-3 times as much. In the next few years HD will come out with more efficient attributes, lowering post-production times, costs, and so on.

*As a sidenote, for those who really want good resolution video; my SD cameras all have 3CCD image sensors. This means that they are just about the best image quality for SD available and all my clients who chose SD were very satisfied with the resolution. Plus, the new DVD players upconvert regular SD (Standard Definition) DVDs to 1080p (HD) resolution any way!

Why do you charge so much, (or so little)?
Most Events (Weddings, Concerts, Birthday Parties etc.) consist of 3 main sections for me. All 3 sections are taken into account when deciding on the amount I charge.

1) Pre-Production
There is much more to what I do than what is seen at the actual event, and all of it takes time.
Time to ensure: that my equipment is in excellent shape by testing it just for the specific event, preparing various itineraries/timelines/planning forms, consultations, research, etc.

2) The Production or "Event"
After all of the "Pre-Production" is done comes the actual event or "Production", which some may think is all they are paying for. However it is important to remember that I put in a lot of time prior to the event/after the event as well.

3) Post-Production
There is a great deal of editing "Post-Production" to be done before delivering the final product.

For those who find my rate(s) to be low, I'm glad. That means I'm available to a larger group of people.

For those who find my rate(s) to be high, I hope my explanation has added some clarity as to why my costs are so.

Check around… you might be surprised at how reasonable and straight forward I am.

Do you use a written contract?
Yes. My contract protects both myself and you the customer.

How will you dress, appear etc.?
Typically, I wear black and white formal wear.
If you have a theme going (i.e.: Hawaiian), I can dress accordingly.
Regardless, I always dress to represent my company in a professional manner.
There is never any smoking or drinking and I always arrive at the time agreed upon.

What makes you such a great Videographer?
It is important to find someone who enjoys his/her work; someone who takes pride in doing a great job, and that would be me.

I earned a Bachelors degree from California State University in Monterey, where I studied film, photojournalism, & audio production. I truly enjoy capturing special moments for others. I do videography & editing for weddings, films, documentaries, & fashion companies. I have produced graphics and special effects for many other projects, and I enjoy all of it.
